The price was right and I took the advice of other online shoppers and ordered up. I believe that had I ordered the smaller size, I would not have had sufficient shoulder space/ movement. The fit is loose elsewhere but not ridiculous. Love that there are three wearable combinations with this jacket. I am outdoors frequently during the work day. I HATE returning to my desk, drenched to my knickers because my jacket did not keep me dry. Co-worker suggested the whirlibird as an alternative to GoreTex. So far, so good.Drenching downpours headed this way over the weekend and will find out soon enough if this was a great / good / poor choice.Update: BEST jacket purchase EVER! I walk a ball field several times a day to exercise a doberman. Rain, snow, wind and general cold. There have been times the rain has been so hard that I could not see across the field. The jacket has kept me dry. And when needed, warm. Used for walking my own pups two to three times daily. I do have to layer a safety vest over but that is the only drawback to this amazing coat. ROI has been incredible.I originally purchased the XL, but it was way too tight across the chest and in the armpits. The 1X fits better, but I thought a jump in size would give much more room. I can zipper this jacket comfortably (not so with the XL). There is still some slight restriction in the arm pit area, but nothing that would dissuade me from keeping this one. It's always nice when someone gives numbers/measurements to their reviews to give the purchaser a better idea of fit. I am 5'2" tall, and weigh about 170. My chest is 44". Technically, according to the size chart, an XL would fit, but let me tell you from first hand knowledge, no, it won't. ***UPDATED REVIEW*** (Jan 7, 2018). The Boston area has been breaking all records for low temps. The wind chill was -31 degrees this morning when I took the dog out (-3 degrees F regular temp). I was super warm in this jacket. I am impressed! This jacket came up a little large, even after consulting the Columbia chart on their website for women's plus sizing (unsure if that is because of assumed room to layer underneath, or that it is actually just larger than what their chart says). Regardless, I found it to be an excellent jacket after purchasing a smaller size for myself. It is nice and toasty for winter, has plenty of pockets for what I needed, and a removable liner jacket. The fabric and seaming are of excellent construction as well, and I had no problem sliding the hem of the jacket over my hips (a feat with other jackets I've used, as I have wide hips). As a relatively clumsy person, this jacket has taken some abuse from me and still washes up just fine. Overall, it is well-made, and quite comfortable.I used this coat in Juneau in July so there was quite a bit of rain, but temperatures ranged from the 50s to the 70s. I wore a variety of fleece jackets underneath as alternatives to the lining depending on weather conditions. I only wore the jacket lining when we went out on a boat tour to view glaciers and look for whale so that it was windy and colder. I purchased the coat larger to allow for layering as I will also be wearing it for college football games. The coat held up well to the rainy conditions in Juneau, as well as the wind on the boat. I just wish there was an interior pocket on the jacket shell (there is on on the liner, but I only wore the liner the one day). I think I will be happy with this 3-in-1 this winter. All the reviews were saying this ran small, so I ordered the 2X (my usual tops size) because I like my clothes loose. I'm 5'7" with a 48D bra & weighing 190 lbs. Womens' size 1X or mens' XL fit me without being tight, but I prefer 2X or XXL. This particular size 2x coat, however, feels too big. I might return it for a 1X, but only if the 1X is bigger than an XL. I tried on XL in the store and it was too snug.Other than sizing, the coat is incredible! The color is gorgeous and it's super warm without being bulky! Winters in Las Vegas don't get very cold, but I tried it on outside at midnight when it was about 30 degrees and windy and I felt cocooned in warmth.Fits great for me. I ordered a 1X and I normally wear an XL. When I tried an XL in the store it was small, so I ordered up. The 1X is roomy with space to layer under it. I played outside tonight with my 3 yo in 15 degree weather and was fine with a thin shirt underneath.Only thing is the picture made it look bright pink and it's not, it's purple like the name. I love all things hot pink and thought that's what it would look like and was bummed.I bought this coat for the Presidential Inauguration so that I would have a heavy coat that was also waterproof. I love it! It is not too bulky or heavy, but it has nice insulation. My daughter bought one too. We both chose a size larger than we normally wear so we would have room to move with layers underneath.Update: It kept us warm and dry in D.C. When we got home, my daughter took the inner coat out to wear on a non-rainy day. She LOVES it! It is so light, but so warm. It doesn't have the hood, which she loves for every day. This coat is worth every penny!I love this jacket. It is well made and is perfectly suited for the purpose I ordered it. I am going to Alaska in June. The temp will probably range from a low sixties to low forties. It is really two jackets in one. I will be able to remove the lining if necessary. It is well made and has several thoughtful details that I really appreciate. I did not think I would be crazy about the colors, but it is actually quite becoming. I highly recommend this jacket and give it 5 stars. Try it. You will not be sorry!Fits. Its OK. No double zipper which is a pain on a ski jacket. No "ski" features excepting snow skirt which is tricky when both layers worn together. Very boring and frumpy look, but it does the job. Update- this jacket not as frumpy as stated before I skied in it. Im an apple shape 20/22 top , 18 bottom and this jacket actually fits well. Once out there remembered and appreciated pit zips. Upped my review to 4 stars. So hard to find plus size ski clothing. I'm glad Columbia stepped up and offers a plus size range. A bit of ommph, tech features, and styling would not go amiss though.
