I was 3 different sizes according to the size chart and went with the middle size. I should have went with the largest size (my hips). I can still get it on, although it is tight on the bottom end, is comfortable and sucks in all the right places. The only down side is that you can see through the fabric on your butt. That isn't a huge deal for me because I always were swim shorts over it, but if you don't than it would be a big deal. It may be less (or not) see through if you got the size that truly fits your hips, but I felt that at only 1 size down it shouldn't have been as see though as it was because it was stretched but not stretched to the max.
